Thematic approach to curriculum
Cognitive Development:
Letters A-Z in capital and lower cases: Children will learn the phonetic sound of the letter, to recognize and identify each letter, and write each letter. Letters are taught once a week in a thematic approach.
Numbers 1-20: Children will learn to count from 1 to 20. They will learn to recognize, identify and write numbers 1 through 10. They will learn comparison of numbers, patterning and quantity sets.
Colors: Children will be exposed to 12 or more colors. They will learn to recognize and identify their colors. They will learn to mix primary colors to make new colors.
Shapes: Children will learn to recognize and identify 5 primary shapes and to create various objects from these shapes.
Language Art:
Phonetic language approach: Children will learn the phonetic sounds of all the letters of the alphabet. They will learn how to recognize these sounds at the beginning of words. Our Transitional Kindergarten will advance to learning how to blend letters and form words.
Whole language approach: Children will be exposed to the Big Book Language Series through the year.
Science is included weekly as part of the weekly theme. Stem Curriculum is also incorporated.
Daily children are exposed to songs, finger plays, and singing games as vehicles to assist them in learning Christian and academic skills. At times we sing songs just because they are fun.
Twice a week we have Music and Movement which includes songs, finger plays, rhythm band, musical games, acting out favorite stories, free movement to music, and many other musically based curriculum where imagination and expression are encouraged.
Gross Motor Skills:
Weekly gross motor skills are a part of our curriculum. We also have a gymnasium, outside play areas, and a new state of the art 40,000sq ft indoor turf field/basketball court.
Small Muscle Skills:
Cutting, pasting and many other skills are developed in our daily art projects.
Transitional Kindergarten:
Uses the A Beka curriculum. It is a Christian curriculum which covers Bible, language and math skills, writing, science, history, community helpers, character traits and music. It is a phonetic approach to language development.
Bible Based Curriculum
Our Christian curriculum is Biblically based and focuses on developing the Christian character of the child, taught daily and throughout the day.
Marlton Christian Academy Preschool is widely known for our outstanding Musical Programs that give our children an opportunity to share their gifts and talents.  The children have opportunity to perform beautiful songs, poems, memorized scriptures and dramas in our all school Thanksgiving, Christmas and Graduation Programs.
